- How to Use This CourseThe video demos and exercises in this multimedia course are an integral part of the learning. The videos show how the tools actually work, and how to navigate the Word environment on both Mac and Windows computers. The exercises help you check your learning. For a great many topics there are integrated instructions and two sets of accompanying videos: one for Mac users and one for Windows. Video demos, updates, and further reading are found in this course website. Concentrate on the tools, not the editing. Remember that this guide is not teaching or assessing editing skills and grammar. Do not fret over “editing right.” You can even markup nonsense, as you will see the author do in the demos. The point is to practice using Word’s tools. The course is arranged by tool, roughly in order of importance to an editor’s work.2
- Skill bitesWe'll start with the top tool for editor: Track Changes. It can be as simple as turning it on and working away, but there's a lot more that makes it useful (and bothersome).4
- ConclusionThis concludes our time together. I hope to see you in one of the other core courses or in a skill bite!1
